A dolphin is hiding in Central on Hong Kong Island and the hillside Mid-Levels above it. The pointed snout, dorsal fin and slanted tail make it look like it is jumping out of the water.
It is only about 4 km, but it climbs the slope between skyscrapers, so the elevation range is close to 100 m. You start at the top of the dolphin's back and loop back to the same spot.
How the drawing works
Snout and head — A short, pointed out-and-back to the west is the snout.
Back and dorsal fin — The small zig-zags heading east make the curve of the back and the fin.
Tail — A long diagonal stretch down to the southwest runs from body to tail, and the short turn at the end is the tail fin.
Before you run
Only about 4.1 km (2.5 mi), but closer to a hill workout. Keep your rhythm rather than your pace.
The Mid-Levels have lots of stairs and steep ramps. Skip it on slippery rainy days.
Central is packed during weekday rush hours. Early weekend mornings are best.
GPS drifts easily between tall buildings. Let your watch lock on before you start and use dual-band mode if it has one.

With GPS art, the highlight is the moment the drawing is complete. Just before the finish the camera pulls back to show the whole finished picture.
Add a text like "Hong Kong Dolphin Run 🐬" to make it even more fun.
The route drawing and sample run (time, pace, heart rate) are examples generated from the map route. Before running it for real, check local conditions such as traffic lights, construction and closures.
