Start at Gwanghwamun in the heart of Seoul, link the streets of Jongno and Bukchon, and a boxy puppy appears on the map — the Puppy Run. Palaces, hanok neighborhoods and the Cheonggyecheon stream are all along the way, so you draw and sightsee at the same time.
Start and finish are the same spot near Cheonggye Plaza, just south of the Gwanghwamun intersection. You run the puppy's outline once around.
How the drawing works
Head — In the northwest, the roads around Gyeongbokgung Palace (Hyoja-ro to the west, the north side, Samcheong-ro to the east) make a big square head. It climbs as you go north.
Back and tail — The road heading east toward Bukchon and Changdeokgung is the back, and a short out-and-back to the north at the east end is the raised tail.
Legs — The square bumps reaching south toward Jongno and Cheonggyecheon are the legs. The straight main roads give them sharp corners.
Before you run
About 8.5 km (5.3 mi) — under an hour for most runners. The climb north of Gyeongbokgung can break your pace.
Gwanghwamun and Bukchon are crowded with tourists on weekend afternoons. Go early in the morning.
Some roads may be closed on days with rallies or events at Gwanghwamun Square.
A walk along Cheonggyecheon makes a perfect cool-down.

With GPS art, the highlight is the moment the drawing is complete. Just before the finish the camera pulls back to show the whole finished picture.
Add a text like "Seoul Gwanghwamun Puppy Run 🐶" to make it even more fun.
The route drawing and sample run (time, pace, heart rate) are examples generated from the map route. Before running it for real, check local conditions such as traffic lights, construction and closures.
